Pulo do Lobo - A sorte protege os audazes
Luck is for those who dare
Ninguém esperava ter a sorte de conseguir um céu espectacular. No entanto isso aconteceu este fim de semana em Serpa. Na primeira noite estiveram presentes o Hugo, o Alcino, o Gregório, o Paulo BG, o Zé Ribeiro, o Alfonso, o Ricardo Afonso, a Margarida e o Santiago. A noite começou com uma jantarada na Lebrinha, tendo os comensais ingerido as iguarias do costume. A observação iniciou-se pelas 23h30m. O Alfonso esqueceu-se dos paus do seu obsession, tendo partilhado o Obsession de 18\" com o Zé. Além do que mostram as imagens abaixo, os pontos quentes da noite foram a observação visual da estrela central de M57, a observação visual e bem nítida da Cabeça do Cavalo, um fabuloso Saturno que com filtro amarelo nos presenteou com um proeminente anel C, bem como uma definida divisão de Encke, uma variável de Hubble enorme e uma Rosette com filtro UHC, de rara beleza. As núvens surgiram de repente quando observámos M42/43 a 800x,
tapando por vezes umas minúsculas estrelas próximas do Trapézio. Refiro-me, claro, às núvens em M42. Regressámos pelas 7h30m, tendo a comitiva cruzado com os caçadores estupefactos que saíam naquela altura.
Na segunda noite estiveram presentes, além dos anteriores, o Paulo e a Joana Barros, o Tripa, o Mota, o Canelhas, o Alberto, o João Montenegro, o Filipe e o Luis Evangelista. A noite começou com o tradicional piquenique ao anoitecer. As núvens apareceram cedo, pelo que a maioria do pessoal se deitou pelas 3h30m. O ponto alto da noite foi sem dúvida a observação da Veil no Megrez Apo do Alcino com uma Nagler 31. É inesquecível e recomendável a qualquer um observar todo o sistema da Veil no mesmo campo.
Mais uma festa astronómica, em que a sorte se aliou à audácia dos que arriscaram fazer 500km sem garantias de ter céu limpo.

No one was expecting such a spectacular sky. Nonetheless it hapenned this weekend in Serpa. Friday night have been there Hugo, Alcino, Gregório, Paulo BG, Zé Ribeiro, Alfonso, Ricardo Afonso, Margarida and Santiago. The night started with a dinner at \"Lebrinha\", everyone tasting the regional special courses. Observations started by 23:30. Alfonso forgot the trousses of his 15\" Obsession at home, so he shared the 18\" Obsession of Zé Ribeiro. Beyond what is shown in the images bellow, the high moments of the night have been the sighting of the central star in M 57, the clear visual sighting of the Horsehead Nebula,a fabulous Saturn wich, with a yellow filter, awarded us with a stunning view of the C ring, a clearly defined Encke division, a very large Huble variable and the rare beauty of the Rosette nebula with a UHC filter. Clouds suddenly appeared when we were observing M 42/43, obscuring some very dim stars in the vicinity of the Trapezium. I refer, of course, to the clouds in M 42. We ended the night by 07:30 and, upon arrival at the residence we met a group of hunters stunned by the fact that someone was ending the night while they were starting the day.
For Saturday night joined the group Paulo and Joana Barros, Tripa, Mota, Canelhas, Alberto, João Montenegro, Filipe and João Evangelista. The night started with a snack at the observation site. Clouds came up early, so most of us went to bed by 03:30. The high moment of the night was the sighting of the Veil Nebula in Alcino\'s Megrez APO, with a 31mm Nagler. It is unforgettable, and something we recommend, to see the complete system of the Veil in the same field of view.
It was a star party, in wich luck favoured those who dared to take the risk of driving 500 km (300 miles) without any guarantees of clear skies.

 | | A 2ª noite começou como a 1ª noite. Nuvens e mais nuvens. Foi entao que o horizonte mostrou a lua. Depois, estrelas, mais estrelas, e por fim biliões de estrelas surgiram para cumprimentar as muitas pessoas que lá estiveram presentes.

 | | O grupo no final da primeira noite, um pouco antes das 7 da manhã. Vénus já ia alto, e Jupiter espreitava entre as cabeças do João e do Zé. Alguns minutos mais tarde espantavamos um grupo numeroso de caçadores ao entrar na residencial quando eles se preparavam para sair :-)
