Por Toutatis ! By Toutatis! Aceitando o desafio do Hugo, reunimos na 6ª feira, com o objectivo de registar o asteróide Toutatis que, nesta data, se encontrava a 1,023 unidades astronómicas do Sol e a 0,32 unidades astronómicas da Terra. O grupo - Zé, Alberto, Filipe e Hugo - reuniu no Passil para um jantar rápido, após o que seguiu para o Atalaia B. Montados e alinhados os equipamentos, o Hugo com o TEC sobre a G11, os restantes com o Obsession, foi deitar mãos à obra e tentar localizar o asteróide, num campo bastante parco em estrelas. Após algumas dificuldades, conseguimos identificá-lo, sem margens para dúvidas e fizemos as devidas capturas, cujos resultados constam das imagens abaixo. Impressionou a rapidez da deslocação em relação às estrelas, sendo a mesma perfeitamente notória no espaço de poucos minutos. Aproveitámos para registar duas duplas - Eta Cassiopeiae e Gama Andromedae - cujas imagens também estão abaixo. Fizemos ainda uma captura da cratera Tycho, com a ATIK sobre a Powermate 4x, no Obsession. A turbulência não deixou que a imagem fosse muito nítida. A certa altura, um carro aproximou-se e mostrou tratar-se de um astrónomo, pois reduziu as luzes para os mínimos antes de estar perto de nós. Era o Jorge Almeida. De passagem por Lisboa resolveu ir lá ver se havia alguém. Ficou connosco até ao fim da noite. Ainda houve tempo para observar a Lua, sem ocular. As fotos registaram a situação. Foi divertido e a noite foi muito compensadora. Alberto Accepting Hugo\\\'s chalenge, we met this friday with the goal of registering the asteroid Toutatis, that, by this date, was 1,023 astronomical units distant from the Sun and 0,32 from Earth. The group - Zé, Alberto, Filipe and Hugo - met in Passil for a quick dinner before going to Atalaia B. Mounted and aligned the equipments - Hugo with the TEC on a G 11, the rest of us with the 15\\\" Obsession - we started trying to spot the asteroid in a field of view quite void of stars. After some initial difficulties, we managed to identify it positively and made the necessary captures whose results are shown in the images bellow. We have been impressed with the rapid displacement relatively to the stars, this being clearly noticeable in just a couple of minutes. We also captured two double stars: - gama Andromedae and eta Cassiopeiae - whose images can be seen bellow as well. We captured yet the crater Tycho using the ATIK 1C over a Powermate 4x in the Obsession. The turbulence did not permit a sharp image. Then a car approached the area, and clearly it was an astronomer because he kept only the code lights while closing in. It was Jorge Almeida. Just passing by Lisbon, he decided to go there and stood with us all night. We had yet the time to watch the Moon without an eyepiece. The photos testify this fact.
