Adeus a 2007 Farewell 2007 Foi o último de 2007. A noite esteve húmida, mas menos fria que algumas noites anteriores. O J. Gregório chegou ainda de dia. Alberto e Filipe chegaram pelas 18:30. Depois foram chegando o Paulo Barros, o Francisco, o Luís Campos e o Luís Martinho. Para além das capturas do J. Gregório, do Filipe e do Paulo Barros, a noite foi passada à volta do Obsession. No início, ainda com o espelho quente, foi o tempo para algumas nebulosas, como M1, M42, M43 e algumas nebulosas planetárias, como a Esquimó e NGC 1514. Marte não passava de uma grande bola luminosa. Mais tarde conseguimos algumas imagens razoáveis, sobretudo com um filtro Orion Optics do Luís Campos. Experimentámos uma binocular do Francisco. Só se consegue foco usando uma powermate. Neste caso usámos uma 2.5. São interessantes as imagens dos planetas, muito boas as de M42 e sobretudo da Lua, onde se ganha uma noção de profundidade das crateras e de outros relevos, claramente superiores à visão monocular. No início da noite, mal se conseguia ver a 5ª estrela do Trapézio, mas, lá para as 2 da manhã, as 6 estrelas eram muito facilmente resolvidas e contavam-se bastantes estrelas por toda a M42. Esta estava muito bela, tridimensional, notando-se mesmo algum indício de cor, sobretudo na companheira M43 onde se notava uma tonalidade ligeiramente púrpura. M78, M79, M46, um Tour pelos enxames abertos de Auriga, Puppis e Cassiopeia ocuparam uma boa parte da noite. Magnífico o NGC 457, o ET. Menos conseguigas foram as tentativas ne Flame nebula, na Horsehead, na Rosette, na Medusa e na Running Man. O cometa Holmes continua a ser facilmente detectável a olho nu. O cometa Temple Tuttle estava próximo de M33 - uns 40' - e bastante mais brilhante que a própria galáxia. Com a nagler 31mm, ficavam os dois objectos no mesmo campo proporcionando uma visão muito interessante. Saturno ofereceu excelentes imagens. O plano dos anéis aproxima-se da posição de perfil. Não se consegue já a divisão de Encke, mas ainda se distingue a divisão de Cassini. Desta vez o Filipe foi o último a acabar, após ter passado a noite inteira a captar imagens da Cabeça do Cavalo. Partimos pelas 03:15. Eu e o Filipe ainda parámos na área de serviço para desejar um Bom Ano aos funcionários, já nossos velhos conhecidos. Em 2008 haverá mais. Alberto This was the last meeting in 2007. The night was humid, but not as cold as some previous nights. J. Gregório arrived early, in full daylight. Alberto and Filipe arrived by 18:30. Later arrived Paulo Barros, Francisco, Luís Campos and Luís Martinho. Beyond the capture of images by most of the attendants, the night was passed around the Obsession. Early in the night, with the mirror yet too warm, we tried some nebulae, like M1, M42, M43 and some planetaries, like the Eskimo and NGC 1514. Mars was just a bright ball of light. Later we got some nice views of it, particularly through an Orion Optics filter from Luís Campos. We tried a binoviewer from Francisco. To get focus we need to use a powermate, in this case a 2.5. The images of the planets, M42, and of the Moon in particular are very interesting. In the Moon we gain a sense of depth in the craters and in the hills clearly better than through the monocular view. When we started, we barely could see the 5th star in the Trapezium, but, by 02:00 AM, the 6 stars were very easily resolved, there was a reasonable number of stars showing through he nebula and we could even see some colour, particularly a light purple in M43. M78, M79, M46,a Tour by the open clusters of Auriga, Puppis and Cassiopoeia occupied a large part of the night. NGC 457, the ET is much better than in any image. Not so good were the sightings of Flame Nebula, Horsehead, Rosette, Medusa and Running Man. Comet Holmes is still easily detectable at the naked eye. Comet Temple Tuttle was very close to M33 and brighter than the galaxy. With the nagler 31mm we could have both objects in the same field of view. Saturn offered some excellent views. The plane of the rings approaches our line of sight. We could not see the Encke division but still had a partial view of the Cassini. This time Filipe was the last to finish after a full night capturing images of the Horsehead. We left by 03:15.
