Wolf Rayets e Cometas Wolf Rayets and Comets Este teria sido mais um número na larga lista de cometas só visíveis nos catálogos. Mas, em 24 horas, cresceu de magnitude 17 para magnitude 2.5, aproximadamente. Visível como uma estrela - não fosse a Lua Cheia, e talvez fosse visível a cabeleira a olho nu - apresenta um largo e muito facilmente detectável halo, quando observado com binóculo ou telescópio. Em telescópio é um objecto muito belo. Tem um núcleo brilhante e apresenta uma "cabeleira" ligeiramente descentrada. E, o que o torna estranho, não apresenta cauda detectável. Em noite de Lua Cheia, foi o objecto da noite. Já na noite anterior, com o Obsession, tinha sido um alvo fantástico, sendo visível mesmo através dos altostratos que cobriam aquela zona do céu. Mas não foi só o 17P/Holmes que ocupou a noite. O José Ribeiro esteve a captar espectros de uma estrela Wolf Rayet, em Cisne. Também fez o espectro do próprio cometa. O João Gregório lá gastou a noite a registar mais um trânsito de um exoplaneta. E importa relevar que estes trabalhos do J. Ribeiro e do J. Gregório se enquadram como participação activa em programas internacionais, em que são participantes muito activos. Fim da noite pelas 05:00. Starlike to the unaided eye - without the Full Moon maybe the coma would be visible - it offers a large and easily detectable halo, when seen through binoculars or telescope. Through a telescope it shows a bright nucleous with a coma slightly out of center. And, what makes it strange, it does not display a visible tail. In a full moon night it has been the object of the night. Thenight before, through an Obsession, it had been a fantastic target, visible through the altostratus clouds that covered that portion of the sky. But there was more than the 17P/Holmes. José Ribeiro captured spectra of a Wolf Rayet star in Cygnus, along with a spectrum of the comet itself. J. Gregório spent the night recording still another transit of an exoplanet. And we must point out that these works of J. Ribeiro and J. Gregório are for collaboration in international programs where they are active partners. End of night by 05:00 AM.
