Primeira noite de Agosto
August first night

- M13 Enxame de Hércules (Hercules Cluster), enxame globular a 25 000 anos-luz;
- M92 Enxame globular a 30 000 anos-luz.
Em Lira:
- M57 Neb. Anel (Ring Nebula), nebulosa planetária a 1 800 anos-luz.
Em Raposa:
- M27 Neb. Haltere (Dumbbell Nebula), nebulosa planetária a 1 000 anos-luz.
Em Cisne:
- NGC6960, NGC6992 e NGC6995 (Cirrus, Filamentary e Veil), restos de supernova ocorrida em data que não me lembro:). Os filamentos encontram-se +/- a 1 500 anos-luz;
- NGC6826 (Blinking Planetary), nebulosa planetária a 3 000 anos-luz.
Em Pégaso:
- M15 Enxame globular a 35 000 anos-luz.
Em Andrómeda:
- M31 (Galáxia Andrómeda), M32 e M110, galáxias espiral (1ª) e elípticas (2ª e 3ª) a 2,5 milhões anos-luz (1ª) e 3 milhões anos-luz (2ª e 3ª). Imagens excelentes a 34X c/reflectores de 8 e 10”.
Em Perseu:
- NGC869+NGC884 (Enx.Duplo de Perseu), enxames abertos a 7 000 e 8 100 anos-luz, respectivamente;
- M76 Neb.Pequeno Haltere (Little Dumbbell), nebulosa planetária a 4 000 anos-luz.
Em Aquário:
- M2 Enxame globular a 40 000 anos-luz;
- NGC7009 Neb.Saturno (Saturn Nebula), nebulosa planetária a 2 500 anos-luz.
Em Capricórnio:
- M30 Enxame globular a 25 000 anos-luz.
Em Touro:
- M1 Neb.Caranguejo (Crab Nebula) remanescente de supernova observada em 1054 e distando, actualmente, 4 000 anos-luz;
- M45 (Plêiades ou Subaru), enxame aberto a 395 anos-luz;
- Mel.25 (Híades), enxame aberto a 150 anos-luz.

More or less experienced in observation and astrophotography, 19 amateurs came to Atalaia last saturday, hungry to see or capture the best possible images in a sky reasonably transparent and quite steady.
It was worth the effort of coming here as demonstrated by the newcomers, mainly.
The night was so enjoyable that some made it 10 hours long.
Beyond the Moon and Jupiter, here is a short list which includes some information:
-In Hercules:
- M13, a globular cluster,25 000 light years away;
- M92, a globular cluster,30 000 light years away;

In Lyra:
- M57, (Ring Nebula), planetary nebula, 1800 light years away;
- M27, (Dumbbell Nebula), a planeytary nebula, 1 000 light years away;
In Cygnus:
NGC's 6960, 6992 and 6995 (Cirrus, Filamentary and Veil) supernova remnant at 1 500 light years approximately;
- NGC 6826 (Blinking Nebula), a planetary at 3000 light years;
In Pegasus:
- M15, globular cluster, 35 000 light years away;
In Andromeda:
-M31 (Andromeda galaxy), M32, M110, the first a spiral, the 2nd and 3th eliptical galaxies, at 2,5 and 3 million years respectively. Excellent sights at 34x through the 8" and 10" reflectors.
In Perseus:
- NGC 869+NGC884 (Double cluster), open clusters at 7000 and 8100 light years respectively;
M76, (Little Dumbbell), planetary nebula at 4000 light years;
In Aquarius:
- M2, globular cluster 40 000 light years away;
- NGC 7009 (Saturn Nebula), planetary nebula 2500 light years away;
In Capricornus:
- M30, globular cluster at 25 000 light years;
In Taurus:
- M1 (Crab nebula), supernova remnant, observed in 1054, 4 000 light years away;
- Mel 25 (Hyades), open cluster at 150 light years;
- M45 (Pleiades or Subaru), open cluster at 395 light years;
In Orion:
- M42 (Orion nebula). Close to the horizon, but we could observe some of its nebulosity and the Trapezium. This emission nebula is 1400 light years distant;

Venus/Mercury conjonction: - beautifull sight at dawn.
There were many other objects not included in this list.
As for the images, just have a look, lower in this page.
More to come, next saturday.
