Bois na Estrada, Porsches Atolados, Convívio Animado, Noite Excelente A bull on the road, a Porsche stuck in the sand, lively convivium, great night Ontem, finalmente, houve uma excelente noite de astronomia. Noa últimos tempos, os fins de semana têm primado pelo céu nublado. E nas poucas ocasiões em que isso não aconteceu, ou havia lua, ou a transparência e a turbulência não permitiam uma observação decente. Ontem, o céu estava transparente, a turbulência era reduzida, a temperatura agradável, e até as melgas eram menos que no sábado anterior. Houve alguma humidade e, a intervalos, algumas nuvens altas qur limitaram a visibilidade. Foi numeroso o grupo que esteve na Atalaia e a noite, para os habituais resistentes terminou "de dia". Partimos às 06:10, sob uma muito bela conjunção de Vénus com a Lua num fino decrescente. A noite começou com 2 percalços: A caminho da Atalaia um Boi ocupava a via da esquerda na estrada nacional, felizmente ninguém lhe bateu e o boi pode seguir a sua vida depois um novo precalço de um novo frequentador que tinha estado lá no sábado anterior. Mas, conhecendo mal o caminho, entrou por um dos caminhos de terra e areia antes de chegar ao local e ficou atascado. Quando a nossa caravana se dirigia para o local tomámos conhecimento do facto e fomos ajudar a retirar a viatura. Improvisou-se uma corda com uma quantidade de cordéis que o Rui Tripa tinha no carro e, com o jeep do Luís Carreira a puxar e o pessoal todo a comer poeira e a empurrar, resolveu-se a questão. No local, era de imediato visível a mancha da Via Láctea. Segundo as estimativas minhas e do Luís Carreira, a magnitude era próxima de 6, coisa muito rara nos céus da Atalaia. As actividades foram muito variadas, porquanto o número de pessoas presentes era cerca de 20. Este encontro irá certamente ficar enriquecido com imagens captadas por vários dos presentes. O primeiro objecto da noite foi uma estrela variável, de um vermelho intenso, em Lira. Trata-se de T Lyrae (HIP 90883), uma estrela de carbono. Foi o Luís Carreira quem teve a ideia. Muito pontual e de vermelho intenso no Taka, sobressaía vivamente no Obsession. Obrigado, Luís! Acompanhado sobretudo pelo Alfonso, continuei a observação de alguns objectos do catálogo Herschel 400,algo que não tinha conseguido nos últimos tempos, completando a pequena lista que se segue: - NGC's 6756 e 6755 em Aguia, dois enxames abertos a formarem um par no mesmo campo de visão, lembrando o duplo de Perseu. - NGC´s7606, 7727 e 7723 em Aquário; NGC's 6144 e 6451 em Escorpião;NGC's 6664 e 6712 em Escudo; NGC's 6940, 6823, 6830, 6882, 6885 e 6802 em Raposa (Vulpecula); NGC 772 em Carneiro. Faltam 15 objectos para completar o catálogo, mas é preciso aguardar pela época própria. Numa noite que durou até ser dia, houve tempo para tudo e não vou listar exaustivamente o que vimos. Mas foi muito lindo o amanhecer com o belo par formado pela Lua e Vénus. A noite terminou com um pequeno almoço na área de serviço do costume, com o Sol uns bons graus acima do horizonte. And, the rare occasions of clear sky, either the lack of transparency or the turbulence spoiled everything. Yesterday, the sky was transparent, with a pleasant temperature, and even the mosquitoes were less numerous than the previous weekend. We had some moisture and, at intervals, some hugh clouds. The group had about 20 attendants, and for the usual resistants, the night ended "by day". We left at 06:10, under a beutiful conjunction of Venus with a fine decrescent of the Moon. The night started with two drawbacks. On the road to Atalaia, a bull occupied the left lane; fortunately no one collided with it. Then a new attendant, took the wrong road and got stuck in the sand, about a mile from the main road.We helped him, improvising a rope and towing the car (a Porsche) with the jeep of Luís Carreira, with everybody pushing and eating powder.But we got to make it free from that sand trap. At the observing site the Milky Way was immediately visible. We estimated the magnitude at about 6, a rare condition at Atalaia. With about 20 people at the place, the activities were varied and the meeting report will certainly be enriched with images captured by some of them. The first object of the night was the star T Lyrae (HIP 90883, a variable carbon star that could be seen in and a live red in the TAKA and glamorously red in the Obsession. Mostly in the company of Alfonso I continued to look for some objects of the Herschel 400 catalog. The NGC's 6755 and 6756 in Aquila, forming a nice pair like the double cluster in Perseus but much smaler, were the first. Then came the NGC´s7606, 7727 e 7723 in Aquarius, the NGC's 6144 e 6451 in Scorpio, the NGC's 6664 e 6712 in Scutum,the NGC's 6940, 6823, 6830, 6882, 6885 e 6802 in Vulpecula, and the NGC 772 in Aries. In a night that lasted until dawn, there was time for everything and I am not going to make a list of what was seen. But it has been an wonderful dawning with the beautiful pair of Venus and the Moon. The night ended with a breakfast at the service area with the Sun shinning some degrees above the horizon. Alberto
