Ano novo! New year! 1 de Janeiro, sábado! O dia perfeito para iniciar as actividades de 2005. Pelas 19:00 horas, Pedro Mota e Alberto já estavam no local. Depois foram chegando o Filipe, o Anselmo, o José Ribeiro, o João Gregório, o Luís Carreira, o Paulo Barros com a Joana etc....Foi uma noite muito interessante, com uma terrível humidade. Nunca me tinha acontecido ver embaciar o espelho primário do Obsession. Vi desta vez. Estava tudo positivamente encharcado. O Luís Carreira e o Filipe estiveram ocupados com a captura de imagens e, artistas que são por excelência, por certo vão brindar-nos com trabalhos de qualidade. Eu tive a companhia do Anselmo numa noite muito proveitosa. Continuei com o catálogo Herschel 400; registei 5 galáxias em Pegasus - NGC's 7217, 7331, 7448, 7479 e 7814. A seguir foram os NGC's 488, 524, 1023 e M74 - 4 galáxias em Peixes. Depois foi a vez dos enxames, a começar por M35 com o menos notório NGC2158.Este último, muito compacto, quase um globular, foi observado a 305x, resolvendo-se em incontáveis estrelas. NGC2129, IC2157, NGC2234, NGC2265, NGC2266, NGC2304, NGC2331, NGC2355, NGC's2371-2 (planetária), NGC2395, Abell 21 (planetária), NGC2420 e NGC2392 (Eskimo nebula) foram os seguintes. A viagem pelo céu continuou com visitas a M93, M46 e nebulosa planetária 2438 (melhor imagem com Powermate 4x e nagler 22mm), NGC2440, M48, Ghost of Jupiter, M42 e o Trapézio com 6 estrelas. A terminar algumas deslumbrantes imagens de Saturno e a Lua. A Lua permitiu uma excelente imagem do Mar Oriental. A lista está longe de ser exaustiva. Pouco passava das 02:00 horas, com todos os equipamentos cobertos de espessa camada de humidade, rumámos ao local do costume para retemperar. Começou bem 2005. Que seja um bom ano para todos. Then came the turn of star clusters, starting in M35 and the more conspicuous NGC2158. This one, very compact, almost a globular, was resolved in innumerable stars at 305x. NGC2129, IC2157, NGC2234, NGC2265, NGC2266, NGC2304, NGC2331, NGC2355, NGC's2371-2 (planetary nebula), NGC2395, Abell 21 (planetary nebula), NGC2420, and NGC2392, all of them in Gemini, were the next. We continued rambling through the skies with M93, M46 and the planetary nebula NGC2438 (best sight with Powermate 4x and Nagler 22mm) NGC2440, M48, Ghost of Jupiter, M42 and the Trapezium with 6 stars. To finish some stunning images of Saturn and the Moon. The Moon offered an excellent view of Mare Orientale. The list is far from complete. Shortly after 02:00 AM, with all the equipments deeply soaked, we took the way to the usual post-observation meeting point. It has been a good start for 2005. Let it be a good year for everybody.
